E3 2012: PlayStation Vita Round-Up

Following on from Sony’s E3 Press Conference on Monday night / Tuesday morning, we have a summary of all the PlayStation Vita announcements right here. Sony has a few great things in store for Vita owners through the remainder of 2012, including new Apps, Games and more.

New Games

All-Star Battle Royale will be coming to the PlayStation Vita, and will include cross-play with the PlayStation 3. A live gameplay demo was shown-off on the conference floor, featuring two PS3 players and two PS Vita players.

Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified was announced by Jack Tretton. It sounds like a side game but at least it’s tied to Black Ops. We’re still waiting on a trailer to be released.

Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation was also announced, featuring the series’ first female assassin. The game will also be bundled with the White PS Vita in North America. The White PS Vita was announced in Japan back in May.

60 completely new titles will be available for the PS Vita in 2012, including download-only titles like When Vikings Attack and Guacamelee.

New Apps

Hulu Plus and Crackle will become available on the PlayStation Vita in addition to the previously announced YouTube app. This will increase the Vita’s video library significantly.

Other

PSOne Classics will be compatible with the PS Vita this summer, including titles like Final Fantasy VIII and Tomb Raider. However, no release date was given.

PlayStation Suite has been rebranded as PlayStation Mobile. The software is currently in beta and allows developers to create apps for the PS Vita, in addition to compatible Android mobiles and tablets. HTC has signed-on as the first third-party manufacturer to support PlayStation Mobile apps.

LittleBigPlanet 2 will be getting DLC that will enable the PS Vita to be used as a controller. But what happened to LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita?
