What Happened to the PlayStation Vita at Sony’s E3 Press Conference?

June 6th, 2012 / Niraj Shah / News

Despite Sony’s E3 Press Conference supposedly focusing on the new portable console, there was very few PlayStation Vita related announcements. The PS Vita didn’t have its own showcase of games or focus during the press conference. A handful of PS Vita games were announced, including Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.

In the past, Sony has spent time focusing on new games for all their consoles, like the PSP and it’s showcase of games. Last year, Sony revealed a number of games for the PS Vita and focused far more on the new console than they did this year.

There has been a lack of PS Vita games since it was launched earlier this year. While the launch line-up was strong, there were few games released after the launch to fill the gap. At least Sony revealed that a further 60 games are planned for launch in 2012, though many of these games weren’t revealed.

Sony did also reveal that PlayStation Vita will soon get PSOne Classic support via a firmware update, but failed to mention a release date.
