TGS 2012: PlayStation Plus Coming to PS Vita in November

September 19th, 2012 / Niraj Shah / News

Sony has revealed that PlayStation Plus will be extending to the PS Vita this November, although a exact release date has not been revealed. Better still is that existing Plus subscribers won’t have to pay extra to extend the benefits onto their PS Vita. Plus on the PS Vita will offer the same benefits as on the PS3, including Instant Game Collection, discounts and more.

More details will be revealed in coming weeks, but here is what you can expect:

Instant Game Collection: Plus members get to play the full versions of designated content for PS Vita available on PlayStation Store as long as their membership is effective, at no extra cost.

Discounts: Access exclusive discounts on certain PS Vita titles.

Online Game Save: Upload game save data for compatible games to Online Cloud Storage, offering up to 1GB of space.

Automatic content downloads and updates: PS Vita will automatically download designated game demos and game updates, and also download system software updates.

Automatic Trophy sync: PS Vita will automatically start up at a designated time to sync Trophy information across PlayStation Network servers.

The added benefit here is that existing Plus members will be able to extend their membership onto the PS Vita, if they own one. Two Instant Game Collections for one low yearly price. And if you don’t own a PS3, the price is still decent – though Sony hasn’t revealed exactly how many free games will be available in the collection. […]
