Rumor Alert: PS Vita Exploit Discovered

September 6th, 2012 / Niraj Shah / News
2

News has surfaced this morning suggesting a new exploit on the PS Vita has been discovered, allowing native Vita code to be run. A previous exploit (which was later patched by Sony) allowed execution of PSP code via PSP games which has vulnerabilities. The details of the exploit have been kept secret to prevent Sony from patching it.

There isn’t any evidence indicating the exploit actually works, so we’ve filed this as a rumor for now. According to the update, “it’s still in its early stages,” and “there’s no release date yet.” Developers can fork the code on github to take a look at the code. “Just a few lines of code have been written so far,” says the update.

“Developer Yifan Lu started a new project called Usermode Vita Loader (UVLoader), it will be a homebrew loader for the PSV, basically,” claims Wololo.
